Dorothy Mae and Dominga

Picture
My journey with my skin has never been easy, ever. Acne has always followed me since middle school to my young adult year along with its scars, literally. Since meeting Rachel of Dorothy Mae and Dominga the way I take care of my skin has changed. Her mission to help individuals find mind, body, and spirit connection to the Earth through natural ingredients is what I was instantly drawn to and am always willing to support.

How she got started:
Rachel started her business because of her daughter who suffered from cystic acne. Like many others with acne, she has spent crazy amount of money on harsh creams and chemicals that claimed to work but never did. She recognized the farm-to-table lifestyle that many people in Fresno are dedicated to now and decided to do the same exact thing with her products.

Purposeful Skincare Workshop
After one of my friends (Hi Amanda!) recommended her line I decided to go to one of her workshops she offered at a local coffee spot in town. The workshop was beautiful – she had a great setup with snacks, drinks, and made everyone feel really comfortable. I found the event to be super personal, we talked about the goals I wanted for my skin and was asked about the products I use now. (This was before I knew the importance of toner and serum.) She shared all of her different masks and exfoliating scrubs which include ingredients like grapeseed, argan, patchouli, lemon and coconut oil.

My favorite products and how they’ve helped me

The Mila Mask
That day I came home with a free mask which was included with the workshop. I’ve been using the “Mila” mask once a week for the past three week and I LOVE this mask. It’s got turmeric, honey, jojoba, and vitamin E. I leave it for no more than five minutes and I really see more my pores closed tighter the next day.

Heal Me Now Love Toner and Red Goddess Serum
Rachel recommended I start using a toner and serum to start. I picked up these two products first. Honestly, after two days I began to see my skin look brighter and less dull which I honestly thought would never happen. Heal Me Now Love comes in a spray applicator for easy usage and has candula, manuka, honey, apple cider vinegar and chamomile in it. The Red Goddess toner comes in another great applicator and has maunka, raspberry oil, carrot oil, neem, and grapeseed oil. As much as I adore the ingredients in these I really love how Rachel stores these medicines in amber glass oil bottles. I’ve never seen that in a skincare line before which really says something about bigger money sucking companies that claim to care about preserving their products. =]

After consistently using a cleanser (Philosophy Microdelivery Peel) followed by Dorothy Mae and Dominga Heal Me Now toner and Red Goddess serum I noticed a dramatic change in my skin. My skin is a lot brighter and just gives the appearance of looking fresh with tightened pores. I am so very happy with the transformation I’ve been seeing and am glad to have came across such a wonderful individual like Rachel who really cares about the people and their skin journey. I know I can count on her expertise whenever I need it and love seeing her spread her message in the community. Keep rocking girl!
